This beautiful daughter of mine has sadly left the single digit club. She couldn’t be more excited about this fact. For Christopher and I it is bittersweet. It’s weird to look back at her first birthday and see how much time has gone by…without us realizing it.
(Zack wears this red car shirt now!)
I kind of feel like I should be making the cake above, with “1st birthday” written on it, instead of the big “10” I wrote on this years cake!
Ok, out of the past –onto present!
We made our traditional Krispy Kreme run where Kallie got her three free donuts and I bought some extra for hanging up later in the day. These kids are so dang cute. Andrew ran inside and got everyone a hat. I love that Ben held every door for us girls and made a big deal that it was Kallie’s birthday.
After breakfast at KK we had a little down time before just us girls headed out to go bowling. You would be shocked how much noise four girls could make in a car…especially when I turned on the frozen music. We sang at the top of our lungs the whole 15 minute drive to the bowling alley.
Once we picked out our silly names, Kallie explained how to “M&M” bowl to her friends. Cute E.H. drew “bowl with the wrong hand”. Well, that led to having the bowling worker having to come and fetch the ball that got wedged between the bumpers and the gutter. These girls were red from laughing so hard!
Kallie was a pro at “granny” and the other girls would groan when she drew a red m&m. This is her “I don’t know how I keep getting red” face.
After two games in the smoking bowling alley (it’s located above a casino…yuck!) I was sick and ready to go.
The girls thought they were so smart taking the elevator down the one flight of stairs…until I beat them and had time to set up my camera for a picture. I took this as soon as the door opened….
When we got home the boys had decorated the whole house and hid her treasure hunt. She was shocked and so excited to have the house finally look like a party! A bigger shock was having Dad at home waiting for her.
The girls decided to take a swim to get all the smoke out of their lungs.
Then they came in a did the cutest treasure hunt! Thanks Grandma!
Go back to the picture of the girls eating donuts. You see Mr. Z on the counter there?
He had gotten into the frosting bowl and was enjoying yellow frosting with his hands. Good thing I had just finished frosting her cake! Stinker.
One part of her treasure hunt had her friends decorate her with streamers. They loved it!
Then they tossed confetti and danced around her blowing on kazoos.
Finally cake time!
Then presents….
When she blew out the candles on her cake we didn’t eat it right then…I put it back in the freezer (it was an ice cream cake) while we did presents, more swimming, dinner, then cake. Some little person wasn’t wanting to wait so he helped himself. He was pretty sneaky. I was around the kitchen the whole time and never noticed him in the freezer!
This girl is blessed to have such amazing friends. She was in absolute heaven. This year was supposed to be her “family” party since she did her big “friend” party last year. These cute girls went out of their way to get presents for her and come celebrate with us. This is a pretty special place to live.
This morning I walk outside and she is already painting her nails on her new manicure set. Welcome to 10!
