Weird Al Concert

This summer, the boys found out that Weird Al was coming to Richmond—and next thing I knew, they had already bought tickets and booked a flight for Ben to come home from Provo for the weekend! 💥

Why is it that the best weekends always fly by the fastest?

Unfortunately, I was under the weather and couldn’t be there to pick Ben up from the airport, but that didn’t stop us from having a fun and unforgettable weekend.

Weird Al put on an amazing show with a fantastic lineup—there wasn’t a dull moment. Even the stage resets were entertaining, thanks to his hilarious and engaging video montages that kept the energy going.

It was also Nick and Xander’s first concert ever! 🎶 We grabbed lawn seats so they had plenty of room to move around and soak it all in. They made it all the way through the concert... until the encore finally did them in. 😄

After a late-night Wendy’s stop for Biggie Bags (tradition?), we rolled in after midnight—just in time to catch a few hours of sleep before Ben’s early morning flight. ✈️

Time really does fly when you’re having fun. Can’t wait for the next adventure. 💛

Pentagon and 9/11 Memorial Visit

We weren’t about to let Ben get too much rest while he was home—so bright and early Monday morning, the boys packed up and headed to work with Christopher! 😄

It worked out perfectly since Christopher had a later-ish meeting (which, in classic fashion, ended up getting pushed even later... and then didn’t happen at all). Ben had never been to Christopher’s office before, so it turned into a fun little “bring your kid to work” day.

While Christopher was in his meeting, the boys went out to explore the Memorial nearby—my favorite one! It was the perfect way to enjoy a quiet moment in the morning.

When plans shifted and Christopher realized his meeting was officially off, the boys headed back home. It actually worked out great, because it meant we could all drive together to the Weird Al concert later that day—instead of taking two cars. Win-win! 🙌

Oceana Airshow in Virginia Beach

We were so excited to head back to the Oceana Air Show this year! ✈️ Last year we had Kallie with us — this time, we had an even bigger crew: Ben, Chris, Ligaya, and Chase joined in on the fun! It was such a blast experiencing the show with a full group.

Last year, it took us over an hour just to get off the freeway and through the front gate… but this year? We breezed right in within minutes! For a second, we thought we had come on the wrong weekend because it was so different from last time. 😄

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect — blue skies and sunshine made for ideal plane-spotting conditions. ☀️

As always, my favorite part was watching the Blue Angels, but honestly, the smaller aircraft stole the show in their own way this year. We also caught the radar jet, the F-22s, and tons of other amazing planes… though I’ll admit I’ve already forgotten half their names. 😅

After the show, we wrapped up the day with dinner at Raising Cane’s before saying goodbye to the “-en’s.”

At this point, I think we’ve officially started a tradition! 🛩️🍗💙
