When I asked him if he got the bird….
When I asked him to pose…
The hunter hears a bird overhead and Zack is all business…
Planning his attack.
Have I mentioned how much I adore this kid?! He just makes life so much fun.
So this has been our spring break. We were so excited for a whole week to play around Dayton and maybe travel to PA or KY, but then I got sick on Sunday. Sunday night Andrew started not feeling great, and after taking his temp he had a temp of 103. Lovely. That night was unrestful since Andrew woke me up at 2am, temp 104 and then proceeded to vomit. There is nothing I hate more in this world than vomit. For some reason my kids don’t like to be alone when they vomit so I did my best to lightly sleep while waiting for the horrible sound. I finally got back to bed by 6am. Poor Andrew had just been on the couch all week with a high fever. Thankfully the throwing up stopped after one night.
Kallie was feeling left out so she decided to get sick on Tuesday. So our house pretty much looked like this picture for the rest of the week.
Last night (Thursday) Zack decided to join the sick crew. So today is more movies and taking naps. I just pray their teachers don’t ask them to write a paper on what they did over Spring Break. It would be short…..”we stayed home, watched movies, and did nothing fun’” Poor kids. So I can now declare, Spring Break 2017 SUCKS
This morning Z was ready for school about 15 minutes early. Before he started to play with Rascal I told him to go potty one more time before the bus came. He then announces he has to poop! Thinking we have plenty of time I’m not worried about him not making his bus. 17 minutes later his bus arrives. I beg, plead, bribe him to be done (it’s been 17 minutes!) He is adamant he is not done. I walk outside, explain to the bus drive he is going poop. The bus driver and aid both start laughing because they had figured he was pooping. Sadly this isn’t the first time this has happened. I walk back inside, sit at my computer, and then he proudly announces, “I”M DONE!!!!” I look out the window and see the bus drive by. This kid.
Today Benjamin gave a talk in Sacrament Meeting. It’s amazing to me how grown up and composed up there at the pulpit. It was a proud mom moment. He did amazing a gave a talk on “how to sustain in the church”. He broke is down on how to sustain your testimony by doing the small and simple things daily.
As we were leaving church Ben was being a stinker to Zack. Zack comes running up to me to tell and Ben and yells (in the middle of the busy hallway) “MOM! Ben’s gone to the darkside!” It was a pretty awesome moment. Still working on this whole love at home thing…..
A few highlights of today;
Zack requested cereal for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
He didn’t want a cake. Only ice cream and donuts.
We took cupcakes to his preschool class where I learned he has his whole class doing peak and pits every day at snack.
He wanted to leave school with me early and get shopping. He wanted to buy his own gifts this year. Can’t leave this important day to chance!
Lunch with dad where Zack charmed all the ladies at the restaurant.
The highlight of his whole day was when Katie came over to play. I’ve never seen him so giddy!
After cereal for dinner we did gifts from siblings, grandma’s treasure hunt, and dessert….followed by playing with his new toys.
He crashed in bed. All in all a great day!
Pictures are out of order….
Dinner of champions…cereal
Starting his treasure hunt. Once he saw spiderman he had to go change his jammies into his spiderman shirt and his way too small jammie bottoms.
Present with lots of laughing and hugs. The kids loved buying presents for Zack
Cereal for breakfast! We read scriptures at 6:30am and Zack never makes it. Today he was up and ready by 6:20! Walked into the kitchen and yelled,, “It’s my birthday!!”
Cupcakes with his classmates. He loves being the center of attention.
I wanted to get a picture of him outside of his school. Picture #1 he puts his hand in his pocket, #2 it’s a CAR!!!! #3, showing off his surprise!
I took Zack to Toy’s R Us to pick out his presents. He grabbed a cart and was ready to roll. He had so much fun picking out gift after gift after gift. Sadly, he wasn’t going to get all those.
To narrow things down we lined up all his gifts in the barbie aisle (so he wouldn’t be tempted to add anything else). The he went on to narrow things down to four gifts, swapping them out many times. It was absolutely adorable to hear his thought process.
His loot! He also got a crown, sticker, and balloon. He told everyone he saw it was his birthday and proceeded to tell them all about how 5 is after 4, and now he’s finally five and every single thing we had done to celebrate him that day.
Zack really wanted Chick-fil-a for lunch but it was crazy. I finally convinced him to go to a Mexican restaurant we’ve been wanting to try. He insisted he bring in one of his new toys. He had it all set up and ready to play. Thankfully it wasn’t a busy lunch time so he could be as loud as he wanted! When the waitress asked if we needed any other toppings for my fajitas Zack yells “yes! Sprinkles!”
When his birthday flan arrived he looked at the waitress with his cute expression and said, “you know, there’s a song that goes with this” She was so sweet and sung Happy Birthday in Spanish and he grinned ear to ear the whole time.
Katie, the girl of his dreams that we worked so hard to buy her a ring last year, made his whole day by coming over to play. He was absolutely giddy and wanted to show her everything. She is so cute!
Spiderman treasure hunt! He was pretty excited about it!
Kallie has been dying to get him his own necklace. She found one that says soccer. He loves it. Not sure what I think about this…
He’s not allowed to walk on the counter top…but it’s his birthday and he knows he can do anything he wants…..he is too adorable!
