Friday Night Homemade Pizza

We've been doing homemade pizza nights on Friday for as long as I can remember.  It's one of those everyday things we never really document, but we should - so here we go!  As the kids have gotten older we've gotten more and more help.  Ben has learned when your favorite comes up, you better double fist it and get the ones you like!

Every week we have cheese (Zack), Everything (Kallie), Florentine (Ben), Pepperoni (everyone), and Hawaiian (me).  Nick and Zack have taken an interest in helping prep the pizzas - so we get a little extra floury these days.

Nick takes great pride in the placement of his pepperoni slices.  It's adorable.

He has joined the workforce!

I can't believe Ben is old enough to get a job!  Sometimes I look at him and I have to do a double take because he's an adult now.  In my mind he is still Zack's age.  Time really does fly by when you're having fun.  Ben has always been such a great kid and has always been so much fun to have around that I can't believe 18 years has already gone by!

He is now working at Publix, in the deli department.  He is really enjoying it and I think loves the paycheck the best!  We took Taryn and Ben our to celebrate them joining the working class with Taryn's mom and dad.  It was a great night to just relax and hear all about their new jobs and upcoming college adventures!

St. Patty's Day

I don't know why, but I love St. Patrick's Day.  We aren't Irish, we don't drink, we don't even eat corned beef and cabbage!  But I love everyone wearing green, green food, and a tricky little green leprechaun who makes mischief all day.  We started the day with green pancakes, bacon, and green milk.  Nick wasn't too sure about the green milk, but once we called it leprechaun juice he was all in!

Since the kids are on Spring break the rest of the day was just riding motorcycles, hanging with friends, and watching ANTM for poor Kal aka hop-a-long.  But we did do a fun dinner!  Green rice with Hawaiian haystacks, green rolls, green salad, and of course, green jello cups with mint Oreos.  Followed by brownie sundaes with mint chip ice cream and mint Oreos.

Don't I have the cutest little leprechauns?!

This little baby was so tired.  He has MAJOR FOMO and spring break has been so hard on him to try to get him to nap.  He doesn't want to miss a thing and knows the kids are home.  These eyes are the eyes of a little guy who hasn't had a nap all day.  He fell asleep at 6:30pm and didn't wake up (except to nurse) until 7 am the next day.

I couldn't help but laugh when I walked past Kal all cuddled up in a blanket at 10pm - still with her little St. Patty's day hat on.  I love her!

Hop Along Kallie

Oops she did it again!  Yep, Kallie has hurt her foot again.  No, this time she didn't break it (thankfully) but did a great job spraining it.  As Kal is an equal opportunity gal, she decided to injure the foot she didn't break last time.

A week ago she went to a party that had a huge blow up slide.  As she was racing a friend up the ladder she slipped, fell back and landing on her ankle, causing a loud pop.  She was pretty sore and came home limping.  We gave her some meds, iced it and told her to try to sleep it off.  The next morning it was still swollen, discolored, and super painful.  I bought her a wrap and a support for her foot.

Since this is the last week of the semester Kallie couldn't miss any school.  She went each day trying to walk as little as possible and would come home and rest, ice, and elevate her foot.  After almost a week it still was swollen, discolored, and super painful.  We decided to call the nurse and see what she thought.

That call ended with us heading into the urgent care to get an x-ray.  Because of COVID you have to register online and wait in your car.  I did all that, and considering there were only a few cars in the parking lot, I was getting frustrated it was taking so long to get called in.  I decided to call and she how much longer we had to wait - since we had been there an hour already.  When I called they said they didn't even show us on the waiting list and to just come inside.  Apparently I'm not as good I as thought about filling out online forms!

Once we finally got inside we were in and out in 15 minutes.  X-ray showed no broken bones, but considering how swollen and painful it was we went home in a walking boot with orders to wear it for at least 2 weeks.

Kallie's ankle is still super painful and she is on meds every day, but I'm so glad she has the boot and a week to stay off it with Spring break.  Our spring break plans are going to change a bit - and I can't help but call her hoppy - but I'm glad she has a bit more support on that foot.  Oh, and she drives a manual car - so that isn't happening either.....

New to the dinner table crew!

Last night we had a big, momentous event happen that deserves a place on this blog.  Xander is finally big enough for the high chair and can now join the family at the table - instead of ON the table in his bumbo!  He was so thrilled and loved every minute of being with everyone and a part of the group.  If any kid has FOMO it's Xander!

And seriously - we can't take a picture where everyone looks good so between these 3 pictures there is something good of everyone!
