Williamsburg with Friends

What started as a last-minute idea turned into one of the best weekends we've had in a while! It all began during a casual firepit night at the Freckletons'. They mentioned they were heading to Busch Gardens over the long weekend and suggested we come along. At first, I thought they were just joking—but then they texted again… then Jamie called… and before we knew it, the Deans were on board too—and so were we!

We didn’t stay at the same hotel as the Freckletons and the Deans—we were about 30 minutes away—but it didn’t matter. The weekend was still an absolute blast. Their hotel had so many fun amenities that kept both kids and adults entertained all weekend long. I may have discovered some new favorite pastimes: shuffleboard, cornhole, Bank, and Williamsburg in general!

One night, the adults went out for a delicious Mexican dinner while the kids stayed back at the hotel with pizza and a movie night. Major win for everyone. Oh—and the hotel had unlimited popsicles for the kids (and yes, the adults got in on that too). I honestly don't want to know how many the kids went through. All I know is every time one of us adults walked by the indoor pool, we ended up tossing handfuls of wrappers!

There was only one hiccup—Zack got a bit of fiberglass in his fingers and arm from the mini-golf poles. Ouch. But thankfully, that was the only downside to an otherwise perfect weekend.

The drive home? Silent. The kids crashed—hard. We’re so lucky to have such amazing friends here and to make memories like this together. Can’t wait for the next adventure!

Xander gets a Special Package!

Grandma sends the kids a little scrapbook after every birthday with pictures of them together throughout the year and a little note for them. Xander's came in the mail the other day and you would have thought it was Christmas! He was so excited! We sat on the front step for an hour looking at the pictures over and over again. I love this tradition!

Renato's Birthday

I met Renato when he hosted us in BaÅ¡ka, Croatia — such a kind and thoughtful person who made sure we felt completely at home. For his birthday, he chose to celebrate in Boston with friends, and Christopher flew up for the day to join in the fun. It's such a joy to connect with amazing people from all over the world — what a gift that travel brings!
