Quarantine Hair

Since we have to stay home because of COVID-19, we decided to try a little something new with our hair.  I have to admit, Andrew has the most dramatic hair change to me.  We did a mow-hawk with purple tips.  It's hard to see the purple...but they are there.  I keep finding myself staring at his crazy hair!

Zack has always wanted to dye his hair black.  He wanted black hair with yellow tips - but I can't find blonde hair dye.  It's crazy.  You can't find flour, eggs, milk, bread, cleaning supplies, and hair dye.  So he had to settle for just black.  It makes him look so white and pale!  I'm trying to get him to do a mowhawk too, but he likes his hair long.

Ben is trying to grow his hair out.  It is getting really long.  We finally had to trim the back neck line a bit since he was looking like he had a mullet.  He has to pin his hair back now with bobby pins - and I find bobby pins everywhere!  I'm kind of getting excited for the man bun stage so I don't find pins everywhere!

And Kallie.  Poor Kallie.  She is the one who started this whole crazy hair stuff off but has had the hardest time getting color to stick!  Our first attempt was Jello with conditioner - leave on for two hours.  Nothing but super soft hair.  Try two was bright blue highlights.  You can see them if the light is just right.  Then we tried to do purple tips.  Her hair really doesn't take color well so you can't really tell.  It's more like a different shade of her normal hair color.....and you only see it in the right light.

She wasn't up for try number 4.

Nick - 11 months

This cute boy has totally stolen our hearts.  What in the world was our world like before he was with us?!  He is our loudest baby and LOVES to yell and scream - and his favorite scream is a high pitched one.  Ouch for the ears.  He learned how to crawl a week ago and now you can't stop him.  Nothing is safe.  He loves all wires and cords....and loves to put them all in his mouth.  His jumper is still his absolute favorite along with his car.  He also loves the transformer - which makes me very nervous.  Nick has been really slow to roll over, but he will if he absolutely has to.  He loves Kallie and loves to go!  When he wants to go he bounces and it is so adorable.  He loves to go swimmin' - bathtime.  Here he is practicing his stink face....

Nick has curls like Kallie - so of course we had to try a bow on him.  I swear it's like looking at Kallie when she was a baby!

These two are the best of buds.  Nick loves music.  The kids can't practice any of their instruments without him tracking them down and helping them.  This is him playing guitar with Kal.  He even sings when he practices!

Easter 2020 - Salisbury in Quarantine

We didn't think we would have another Easter here (actually our first - every year before we had been traveling over Easter break) so this was actually pretty exciting for us! We started out our Sunday with having the kids find one single egg in the house.  They each had their own color to find - and Christopher made sure to make it hard.  Each was in the rooms the kids are in most - Ben was the game room, Kallie the chocolate chip bag, and Andrew my desk.  Zack was at the piano - not sure about that one.  Once they found their egg they got to turn it in to get their basket.

Everyone got water guns and a water fight promptly followed.  Good thing it was a warm day and absolutely beautiful outside!

So Nick was not a fan of his first Easter.  He didn't like the water guns, didn't like his bubble machine (it didn't help that one of the kids blew bubbles and it popped in Nick's eye) and he didn't like the screaming that went along with the water fight.  Poor kid had a rough day.

Teams!  Bunny ears vs. bunny glasses!  Kallie was the winner and won 5 I Love Yous!

See that blanket there?  That's the "safe zone" for Nick.  See how well that worked?!!  Ugh.

Chris took the kids on a walk while the Easter bunny hid the eggs.  I caught them at the top of the driveway and we timed their go times!

Highlight of every Easter is the opening of the Easter eggs!  We did it on the trampoline and Nick enjoyed that part.  Christopher of course made things fun by throwing eggs at everyone.  Having six kids is really fun.

We had a great Easter and couldn't be more excited to have another holiday in our lovely England!

Sword Fighting - Teach them Young

What do you do when you have 3 older brothers who are suddenly home all day because of quarantine? Learn the fine skill of stick sword fighting - of course! The boys have lots of energy they need to burn off during the day - so when we take breaks from school someone ends up outside, normally doing something dangerous. Nick is the best student and watches everything, waiting for the day he can jump in and join in the fun!

St. Patty's Day!

I'm a sucker for any holiday, and thankfully I married into a family who feels the same way! Your grandma is so talented! She has written several books with treasure hunts in them. This year we were introduced to Liam and his dog Lucky. I always love when a package arrives with fun family things for my kids. Grandma sent us a fun book, treasure hunt, party hats, glowing necklaces, and yummy American treats! Unfortunately we weren't able to catch that tricky leprachuan Liam - maybe next year....

Crawling is Hard

My poor baby can only crawl backwards! Good things it's adorable....

And this laugh....
