England Summer Nights....
Are beautiful. I took this picture from my bed at 10:15 pm. It's not even the longest day of the year yet. It starts to get light around 4 am. Thank heavens for black out curtains!
Construction ZONE!
So, we were supposed to be back stateside months ago. Our amazing landlord had set up all the moving pieces to have an addition put in - then COVID-19 hit and everything changed. So we are stuck here until things open back up and Stu has pushed back his addition for as long as he could...and now he is starting construction with us still here. Thankfully he has found a way to work around us! Here's our new view....
I know the pictures don't look like the trenches are that deep - but they are 15 feet deep!!! That is as deep as the digger goes - and they still haven't found solid ground. The dirt is so crumbly if a kid were to fall in it would be very very bad. Thankfully we had those left over railings to use!
The dirt pile is halfway as tall as our garage!
Our front door is now not usable. We go in and out of the laundry room.
today they are pouring the cement. I'll keep this updated!
Busy Boy
Oh this boy loves to make messes....
He takes his job very seriously. And check out those awesome hairband anklets.....
Walking on the Fields
My favorite walk is walking along the fields by our house. I love where we live. We have the most amazing views of Salisbury from our house, and our house is kind of tucked away so we don't have any real neighbors we can see. On one side of our yard it is just a wooded area. You cross that and a small neighborhood and then you are in an area that is just fields as far as the eye can see. I love walking these fields. I'm going to miss them.
And every time I walk up these steps I think of they are just so beautiful - so I took a picture of them.
Melbury Beacon
***In true blogger fashion I can't move the pictures around easily so they are all out of order***
It was such a beautiful day we had to go out and enjoy it. We decided to try out a new National Trust site that had recently opened it's car park - but wasn't too far away since all bathrooms are still closed. Melbury Beacon it was!
In full disclosure I didn't realize what I had signed us up for. I just saw a friend visit this place and post wonderful shots of bluebells...and I wanted to see bluebells. I knew it was a hill, but I thought (like most places in Europe) it would be tiny - and parking probably at the top. NOPE! This was seriously a beacon on a big hill. See this picture? I'm standing at the top of one side looking over to the other side. At one point the hill was so steep coming back down Chris had to angle Nick's stroller so he wouldn't fall out. That being said, we were able to use the stroller the whole way so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Halfway up the hardest part. I love this kid's sense of style!
Finally at the top! There was this cute older couple eating their lunch at the top. I though it looked like something out of a magazine. How picturesque!
This monument shows how far every village is and where it is located. You get 360 degree views so you can see EVERYTHING! It was so cool!
At the top! Look at the sky - talk about blue! Kids - name that movie!
Andrew - without fail - will sneeze EVERY.SINGLE.TIME we try to get a picture
This poor kid was such a trooper. It was a pretty hot walk, especially since there were no trees (every un-England like). He either got a sunburn on his mouth/nose area or ate something he is allergic to. We aren't sure which since he didn't eat anything new - but it did go away the next day so we don't think it was a sun burn.
So many view pictures - but I can't help it! THIS is the amount I weeded out to!
I love looking at the pictures at the end of the day and seeing our day through Andrew's eyes. This fence is one he took. I love it.
There are cows all over the hill and these guys came up and said hi. How great is this shot Andrew took!??! He is becoming quite the photographer.
It never seems to amaze me that we haven't been in an accident on these roads yet. This is a two lane road....with little pullouts to let the other cars pass. It can get a little dicey at times. We've gotten really good at backing up.
These are the military Badges. They were created by soldiers garrisoned nearby, and waiting to go to France, during the First World War. It always amazes me every time we pass them. I still haven't gotten a good picture of them - since I never pull over - just take it from the car as we drive by.
