8th Grade Night

Every year the band hosts 8th-Grade Night to spark excitement for joining the marching band. This year it was especially great because Zack got to attend—and it was awesome to have Andrew there too. This is the only time they’ll play together in the stands (sadly), so it made the evening even more memorable.

What made it extra special: Zack arrived with me after school and when we got there, the band kids formed a cheer-line to greet the incoming 8th graders. A sweet kid from our ward, Henry, spotted Zack, jumped in, gave him a hug, and stayed with him the whole night to make sure he wasn’t nervous. How amazing is that?

Zack ate dinner with the band, then cheered the seniors, got to play in the stands, and got a real taste of what band life would be like if he decides to join—and you can bet he is! I can’t wait to welcome another band kid into the mix!

Halloween Haunt - in the daytime

We finally had a free Saturday where I could take the boys to Kings Dominion to see the haunt. King Dominion does Halloween right! It is so fun and festive and perfect for the little boys. We rode rides, made masks, decorated pumpkins, and hung out with friends. We even got to see Nate crush a bratwurst eating contest and win with eating 8 bratwurst! It was a great day!

Buddies

I could just take pictures of them all day. I came down the stairs and found them scrunched together on this punching bag playing their little games. I love just hearing them laughing and snickering with eachother. They are just the best of buddies.

Reading with my boys

Exploring our town

I swear, we don’t actually go to school in October! Out of the four weeks this month, three have been four-day weekends, and the other one was a three-day weekend. So, we decided to make the most of it and head out to explore with friends.

Zack was especially excited because it meant more time to practice skating at the skate park, while we took the little ones on a hike. They did amazingly well — they didn’t even realize we had gone three miles! It was a cool, crisp day that reminded me so much of the walks and hikes we used to take in England. I miss those days... but I really love these days too.
