Nipples

The other day Andrew was inspecting his body while I prepared his bath. “Dad, what are these?” he asked, referring to his nipples.

“There nipples.”

“What are they for?”

“Well, I actually don’t really know. I suppose it’s so we don’t look funny.”

To which my three year old who has never witnessed a nursing baby says, “What about for feeding baby Zach?”

“Only mommies can do that,” I said.

“Why? I want to feed baby Zach!”

Anyways, when I told the story to my dad he decided to look it up. You can find a variety of answers from stupid to very technical for the question “Why do men have nipples.” However, no matter which explanation you pick and regardless of how many you go through as it turns out the reason men have nipples simply happens to be… “because they grow them.”
