The Negogiator and the Melting Witch

Alright, we're going on week two of everybody being sick except for Dad, and it isn't a lot of fun. At this rate it doesn't look like I'm going to be getting Christmas pictures up. If we make it to Easter before that happens then it won't. Anyway, I'll give you a couple of glimpses of the kids during the last little while.

This virus we've got is nasty and part of the cruelty lies in the fact that you'll wake up one morning thinking it's over and by bedtime or the next morning you won't be able to move. We'll, we've been a little lax on some of rules with the kids being so sick and it's amazing how fast they come to expect it. One of the days B was feeling really good, he really wanted to play the Wii. This started at 9 am one morning. He's getting better though, instead of throwing a tantrum he's starting to pick some of the tricks K and I use to get the kids to do something we want them to do. He comes at me with, "Dad if you let me play wii, I'll let you see what's in my treasure chest!" The rule is no Wii till right before bedtime so there's no way I'm giving in to this one. He's pretty persistent though, "Dad, don't you want to know what's in my treasure chest?" Ask me that when you're 16 I'm thinking. Finally it progresses to, "Fine, I guess you'll just never know what's in my treasure chest." When he doesn't get anywhere he ups the anti, "Dad, if you let me play wii you can pick something out of my treasure chest!" In the end he never could come up with a deal sweet enough to change the rule, but he did get to play that night.

On a side note, B's favorite game has been super mario galaxy... and last night we beat it. Except B was so sick again that he actually fell asleep as we were fighting Bowser. Oh well, I guess we can always kick his butt more than once...

Kallie has just been a little zombie walking around with this virus. It's messed up her logic skills a little too. The other morning we were awakened to what sounded the like the wicked witch of the west shrieking in our bedroom. Except she was yelling "I want my own cup" instead of "I'm melting". All the while she was clutching her own cup, the same one she had walked around with all the day before. Finally, when I realized the witch wasn't actually melting, that it wasn't the witch, and that it wasn't going to stop, I got out of bed and gave her a different cup of water.
