B's Birthday

B is now 4!!! It was kind of sad for K and me because B didn't want to wake up at home on his birthday. Instead he wanted to sleep over and wake up at Grandma's. So we decorated the door for a welcome home birthday instead and picked him up at IHOP after breakfast.
Grandpa has really been excited to go to the Cheesecake Factory since they opened up in Murray so he spent the entire last week selling B on the Cheesecake Factory for his birthday dinner. Well, we thought we'd get up there and get in early since we had so many people and it would probably be busy. Yeah, that didn't help. The wait at 4:30 pm on a Monday for 11 people was 3 1/2 hours! (No reservations, no call aheads) The wait for 2, by the way, was still 2 1/2 hours. When B found out we were'nt going to do that he burst into tears. We couldn't understand why he was THAT upset until we discovered that Grandpa had not clearly explained that it was a restaurant. B had conjured up in his mind that it was a special place he was going to go to where he could make his own birthday cake. When it got nixed, the poor kid thought we were throwing out his birthday cake and candles and just fell apart. We explained it to him though and he cheered up. After all, how can you feel bad about cheesecake and pumpkin pie at Grandma's on your birthday?
After eating at Macaroni grill, we went to G & G's to eat cake, watch the Office, and set up a tickle gauntlet. B ran the gauntlet back and forth. Little K skitzed out, knocked her head, and had to be comforted by Auntie A. Ahhhhh memories.

Another Budding Photographer

So after all this time of watch B take pictures with the camera Little K figured it didn't look that hard and why couldn't she do it. I came down one morning to find the camera the lens extended and out of battery with sticky gunk everywhere including the lens. Neither child would admit to it. One thing K hasn't figured out yet, is that when doing something bad, don't take a picture of yourself doing it. To be fair to her, there was one or two pictures of her that only B could have taken, but the majority were hers. The difference is B actually is very careful to always center his subjects in the picture, Little K apparently just hits the button rapid fire. Aside from this incriminating shot, there were about 50 pictures and 20 movies on the disk. The camera no longer focuses when zoomed in all the way either. I love this picture of K because it reminds me of Auntie A when she was a little girl.

Breakfast

Little K got up really early one day... really early. Finally I asked if she was hungry, and if she wanted breakfast. She replied, "It's okay, I'll get it." So I went back to sleep.... you'd think after all this time with two kids I wouldn't be so stupid, right? Well, let's just say there wasn't hardly a spot in the whole kitchen where I couldn't step without crunching a Cheerio.

Halloween 2

For the second part of Halloween we went up to G&G's to continue trick or treating and have some fun. K really got into the spirit of it. She would walk up to the door with B and A and yell "Trick or Treat" at the top of her voice before they even rang the door bell. Finally, I told her to say it when they opened the door. After that she would yell, "Trick or Treat, open up!" what a character. Most of the people would hand each kid their candy, but finally one door let the kids pick what they wanted. K got her treat, turned around, clapped her hands and said, "That was fun!" It was a really great holiday.
After the kids went trick or treating I sat on the porch pretending to be a dummy. I don't think I looked much like one, but I swear I made one teenage girl wet her pants. It's great fun. K got a kick out of sitting by the candy at the front door watching them jump.

Halloween Part 1

We started off Halloween with a trip to Aunt J's! It was so much fun! You might notice a couple of differences between the Halloween preview and the actual event.... Let's just our day started out with B jumping on our bed at 7 am yelling, "I know what I want to be for Halloween!" The answer, by the way, was Batman. Well we don't have a batman costume... just a cape. To make it even better, B's cape is reversible with superman on the other side, and he was actually referring to the superman side of the cape. Anyway, after going through a box of their cousin's old costumes, we settled on a teenage mutant ninja turtle and Tigger.

Turtle and Tigger went to J's house where they got to go on a horse ride. After that Cousin K, the big baby, helped them kick off their trick or treating escapades.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Little K and B have both been pretty cute lately so I though I'd give you a little glimpse of the the things they are saying.

B has been a little more sensitive lately, and I think it's because I'm probably just the meanest Dad. I've gotten pretty strict with him because he hasn't been listening very well lately. So I started giving myself a guilt trip when he said, "Dad, I'm sorry I'm sick." For my own sanity I asked him "Why do you say that B?" He replied, "Well, people just say that when they're sick." Thank goodness he said it because he'd heard it from someone else and not because I've gotten him to the point where he feels like he has to apologize for everything.

Little K is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Nothing phases her. I was forced to rocking her to sleep the other night. Which really means forcing her to sit with me in the rocking chair until she's so tired from fighting me that she falls asleep. She was sitting up telling me "NO!" So I said, "I'm your Dad. You don't tell me no!" She said, "NO! You're B's Daddy!" What a stinker. She's not afraid to fight me on anything big or little. I kind of hope we can raise her without losing that attitude, as hard as it may be.
