Something Really Scary

Everyday at our house we have "quiet time". I actually got the idea in church when someone was saying that every Sunday at their house they have quiet time for one hour where everybody stays in the room. They can do whatever they want, but they just have to stay in their room. Suddenly, I had an epiphany... why can't there be quiet time EVERYDAY! It's great, and it gives me a moment to collect my thoughts so that I don't end up locking the kids in the kennel (see below).

Anyway, during quiet time one day B decided to play with the cord on the window blind and jumped off the window sill with it around his neck. Even though I put nails in the window frame to wrap the cord up, my ingenious child found a way to get it down. Pretty darn scary. Every year kids die strangled in window blinds... we're currently replacing ours with blinds that don't have strings.

yikes! Scary to think that even with the best precautions kids can still find a way to hurt themselves! its great that you are instituting quiet time though. I've heard of a lot of people doing it and it seemslike a win-win situation!
