Cliff Palace (Mesa Verde)

One of the most incredible things we did was tour Cliff Palace. We climbed down over 100 feet using narrow stairs, squeezing through tight corners, navigating cliffs, and descending wooden ladders — all to step inside an ancient city built into the cliffs. At its peak, over 1,500 people lived there, and walking among the dwellings really brought that history to life.

It was amazing to see the thought and craftsmanship that went into every structure. We learned that Cliff Palace was considered the central "city," with smaller villages (some of which we visited later) surrounding it.

Our guide was fantastic — engaging and easy to hear, even in the echo of the canyons. I was also surprised by how much cooler the temperature was inside the palace compared to outside. What an unforgettable experience!
