Dinner with the Ellsworths

One of the best things about being in Utah is how close we are to both sides of our family. We lucked out with our timing on this trip—it just so happened that Ahma and Joy were visiting Dale, Karen, and their family at the same time, and we were lucky enough to be invited too!

We had such a fun evening enjoying a delicious BBQ with an absolutely insane view of the entire Utah Valley from Dale and Karen’s place. It was the perfect setting to catch up with family we hadn’t seen in far too long, share stories, laugh, and just enjoy each other’s company.

The kids jumped right in and played so naturally with Dale and Karen’s grandkids—it didn’t hurt that their granddaughters are ridiculously adorable, and Xander was totally fascinated by them.

We watched a storm roll in, totally unaware of just how intense it would be—until it hit with such force that we all had to make a mad dash for cover! We rushed to move Ahma, though her poor feet don’t move very quickly these days. She was especially concerned about her hair, so Joy and Shelley jumped into action, forming a human umbrella around her to shield it from the wind and rain. It was equal parts chaos and comedy—and I absolutely loved it!

Hopefully, it won’t be years before we’re all together again!
