While visiting the Mesa Verde Visitor Center, we spotted a sign for the Junior Ranger program — and of course, we had to check it out! I think the size of our group may have overwhelmed the poor Ranger just a bit, but we had a blast.
We learned all about how to care for the parks, what to do (and definitely what not to do), and even had to take an official pledge to earn our Junior Ranger badges. Nick took the pledge very seriously. At one point, Andrew jumped up on a rock, and Nick immediately stepped in to remind him that kind of behavior wasn’t appropriate in Mesa Verde National Park. I couldn’t stop smiling — he was truly living the role!
The kids wore their badges proudly for days, and I loved seeing how much it meant to them.
